The Sacrament of Confirmation is the third of the Sacraments of Christian Initiation, the others being Baptism and the Holy Eucharist.

Confirmation is an important sacrament, as it is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace and it enriches the recipient with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. The sacrament forms an important moment in the life of young Catholics. At a time of physical and emotional change, with its uncertainties and confusions, our young people need to be reassured of God’s unconditional love for them.

All children in grade 8 and older are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, and our parish offers programs for students attending a Catholic school as well as those attending public schools.

The program begins with an Enrollment Ceremony/Registration Meeting, attended by all candidates, parents and sponsors. Each candidate will receive a wooden cross, indicating their desire to prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation is a parish event, and will take place at Our Lady of Grace Church. The sacrament will be administered by the Regional Bishop or the Pastor. As students attending public schools do not receive catechetical instruction at school, they will be required to attend a number of evening classes taught by Deacon Doug McManaman.
