The Catholic Women’s League of Canada (CWL) was organized nationally on June 17, 1920 and is officially recognized by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops as a lay association of women. In 1921, we became affiliated with the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations. The CWL was granted Federal incorporation on December 12, 1923. In 1935, the Aurora branch of the CWL was formed.

The League is rooted in gospel values calling its members to holiness through service to the People of God. The patroness of the League is the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of “Our Lady of Good Counsel”.

The Objectives of the League are:

The League has something of interest for all women in the parish and has a broad scope of activities that can use many of the gifts and talents God has given each of us. Our Parish has a council of more than 70 members and we invite each woman in the parish to join us the second Tuesday of every month (with the exception of July and August). Meetings take place at 7:30 pm in the parish hall downstairs. Guest speakers are often invited to present to the group on a number of interesting topics pertaining specifically to women. The CWL has coordinated and participated in many events such as the annual Christmas Bazaar and the Parish Family Supper events. No pre-registration is required to attend one of our meetings. Through membership in the League, at a cost of $20, you will have a chance to promote friendship with other catholic women, share your talents, enjoy and learn from informative guest speakers and participate in events that will benefit the Parish and the community as a whole.

For more information about membership, please contact Mary White, Membership Coordinator at (905) 726-1287, (905) 726-1287.
